For International Women's Day, meet Caroline at ABYS Yachting

On the occasion of International Women's Rights Day 2025, we spoke to Caroline, Marketing & Communications Manager, about her career path, her experience in the yachting industry and her vision of the evolution of the business. Discover her inspiring testimony.

1- What attracted you to the world of yachting?

Having grown up by the sea and practiced many water sports, water has always been part of my life. When I saw this professional opportunity at ABYS, I was immediately attracted by the position, which matched my expectations, and what's more, in a world I'm particularly fond of. For me, yachting represents a fascinating blend of freedom, escape and innovation.

2- How would you describe your role at ABYS Yachting?

As Marketing and Communications Manager at ABYS Yachting, I promote the company's image and values, as well as the yacht brands for which we are the exclusive importer in France.

I develop and implement an omnichannel marketing and communications strategy, combining digital and on-the-ground actions, to increase our visibility, organize large-scale events and strengthen our relationships with our partners.

My role is also to ensure close synergy between the communications and sales teams to maximize the impact of our actions. The main objective is to convey our passion for yachting through engaging and innovative content. But also to attract new customers, build owner loyalty and strengthen ABYS Yachting's reputation in the world of exceptional yachting.

3- What are the greatest opportunities and challenges as a woman in this sector?

Yachting remains a predominantly male environment, and this represents both a challenge and an opportunity. The challenge is to make your mark in an environment where women are still under-represented, particularly in positions of responsibility, in sales or in technical functions. But this is not unique to yachting, it's a reflection of our society as a whole.

In almost all sectors of activity, there is still a gendered distribution of jobs, with a majority of women in administrative, accounting or secretarial roles, and far fewer in management or strategic positions.

That said, this reality is also an opportunity: an opportunity to shake things up, change mindsets and show that skill and passion are not a gender issue. More and more women are occupying key positions in yachting, and although there's still a long way to go, every step forward helps pave the way for future generations.

4- What advice would you give to a woman who would like to work in yachting?

Be daring! Don't let anyone make you believe that this sector isn't for you. You need to be passionate, persevering and confident in your skills.

Whether it's to become a broker, captain, sailor... or any other position in the yachting industry! Networking is also very important: don't hesitate to meet industry professionals, take part in events and continually educate yourself. Above all, never doubt your legitimacy!

5- What do you think about the place of women in the workplace in general in 2025?

Progress has been made, but there's still a long way to go. Today, women are more present in historically male-dominated sectors, they have greater access to positions of responsibility and are making their voices heard. However, inequalities persist, particularly in terms of pay, recognition and access to management positions. The glass ceiling is less thick than it used to be, but it hasn't disappeared.

6- What makes a powerful woman these days? And do you think you are?

For me, true power is the freedom to be oneself, to choose one's path and to be a source of inspiration. A powerful woman is one who doesn't let herself be defined by the expectations of others. It's a woman who asserts herself, who dares, who makes her voice heard without apologizing for existing. She doesn't have to be perfect, she can doubt, fail, pick herself up again... but she remains true to herself and her values.
For my part, I'm working on it... 😊
