On the occasion of International Women’s Rights Day 2025, we spoke with Léa Delcoigne, Commercial Director of ABYS Yachting in Monaco.

She shares her career journey, her experience in the yachting industry, and her perspective on the evolution of careers in the sector. Discover her inspiring story.

1 - Léa, what motivated you to build your career in the yachting industry ?

I was born into the world of boating and have been sailing with my family since I was very young. It’s a unique industry that combines passion and leisure, and I especially enjoy helping my clients bring their projects to life.

2 - You’ve just taken the helm at Abys Yachting Monaco. What key decision in your career helped you reach this leadership role in the yachting industry ?

After running and developing my own company for eight years, specializing in sailing and yachts under 50 feet, and with a background in tax law, it felt natural for me to move into yachting to bring my entrepreneurial experience to the sector. This step strengthened my confidence in my skills and made me feel ready to take on leadership responsibilities in this industry.

3 - Do you think a woman’s perspective and management style bring a different approach in this field ?

Yes, I believe so. Women can bring a different approach, often more attentive and collaborative. In a sector like yachting, which is still very male-dominated, this helps teams work better together, listen to and understand each other’s needs, and create a more pleasant and balanced work environment. This style of management can also build greater trust with both clients and teams, and contributes to moving the industry toward more diversity and openness.

4 - : Are there women in yachting or elsewhere who have inspired your career and leadership vision ?

Yes, my mother has been a huge inspiration. She is a broker and has always been a true example of strength and perseverance for me. She built her career on her own and is now a recognized broker in the industry. I am very proud to follow in her footsteps, and her example continues to guide me every day in my journey.

5 - What are your ambitions for 2026 in this new role?

For 2026, my goal is to continue the strategic development of the Monaco office and strengthen our position in this highly competitive market, where we are fortunate to represent prestigious brands such as Ferretti, Pershing, and Custom Line. I also aim to further structure and grow our charter activity to expand and diversify our service offerings in Monaco.

6 - On the occasion of International Women’s Rights Day, what message would you like to give to young women who want to enter the maritime or yachting industry?

I would tell them to be bold and take the leap, because it’s an exciting sector full of opportunities.
As the saying goes, nothing ventured, nothing gained!
