THE HISTORY OF THE ANTIBES SNSM STATION
The Antibes station was created in 1959 and started for the first time with its first lifeboat unit: the boat "Amiral de Grasse". This was then replaced by the boat "Vice-Amiral Barnaud" SNS 102 in 1973, to be replaced by "Notre Dame de la Garoupe" SNS 128 in 1993.
Since 2005, it has been equipped with the most important rescue unit in the Alpes-Maritimes, a first class unsinkable and self-righting launch: "Notre Dame de la Garoupe II" SNS 148. A 17-metre rescue unit, equipped with two 550 HP engines capable of reaching a cruising speed of 25 knots. An autonomy allowing her to make a round trip to Corsica.

THE SNSM, MOBILISED THROUGHOUT FRANCE
The SNSM is an association under the law of 1901 whose main mission is to rescue people at sea and along the entire coastline. It is the only institution that has the necessary skills and qualifications to intervene in these specific areas.
Its activities include the training of future lifeguards and participation in civil security missions. At the same time, it plays a permanent role in prevention for users of the sea, notably through conferences, demonstrations, or awareness-raising workshops...
WHERE TO FIND THE ANTIBES TEAM?
The Antibes SNSM Station team is based at the Port Vauban Harbour Master's Office. It is chaired by Marc Angeli, President, Nicolas Meradou, Director and Sandrine Rosso, Treasurer.
